Stuff you may or may not know about your local, state, and federal government

The Fourth Branch of Government?

Crazy Uncle Joe Biden came out this morning to deny the allegations that he sexually harassed Tara Reade, in 1993.

Here’s what I find interesting.

Most of his staunch supporters are all making the same statements about Uncle Joe’s innocence. They all say that an “in depth” investigation has been done and that there is no credible evidence to any part of Tara Reade’s allegations.

What agency performed this investigation? Was it the FBI?  Was it local law enforcement?  Was it the Capitol police?  Was it one of the many other branches of the Intelligence Agencies? No, the investigative AGENCY was The New York Times. When did the New York Tass become the official investigative agency of Senate misconduct? I thought there was something called the Senate Ethics Committee that handled such matters. But I’m just a silly commoner who must not have seen the Constitutional amendment granting official investigative and arbiter powers to a specific East Coast newspaper bureau.

Noted failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey ‘If I’m not the next Vice President, you’re a racist‘ Abrams had this to say a couple of days ago confirming the assignment of power to the New York Birdcage Liner. The New York Times did a deep investigation and they found that the accusation was not credible. I believe Joe Biden.

I’ve heard almost identical statements from others in government and the media.

Those investigations (by the NY Times), Vice President Biden has called for himself. Vice President Biden has vehemently denied these allegations and I support Vice President Biden.”, Senator Kirsten ‘Ranch dressing‘ Gillibrand.

I’m so glad that we have an esteemed and unbiased arbiter of justice as the official fourth branch of our government.

Does “Social Distancing” Work?

We’ve all been given our “orders” from the Gestapo governors to “stay home“, “close non-essential businesses“, “practice social distancing“, ad naseum.

I’ve wondered whether or not any of this makes a difference. The “experts” keep telling us “social distancing” is making a difference in the stopping the virus. How do the “experts” know this? There has NOT been an experiment performed where one community practices “social distancing” and an identical group doesn’t. For all the “we must believe in science” crowd, there is NO SCIENCE regarding the effects of “social distancing“. All the conclusions are based on ANECDOTAL results, NOT SCIENCE.

Okay, given that the “experts” are full of excrement, can we determine anything given the data published minute by minute, 24 hours a day? Can we find a group that doesn’t practice “social distancing”?

I thought about what group most likely DOESN’T practice “social distancing”. That group would be the HOMELESS on SKID ROW in Los Angeles. They live in tents on top of one another and don’t practice GOOD HYGIENE in the normal course of living. There have been cholera and plague outbreaks in that community before COVID-19 became a thing.

IFsocial distancing” is necessary to CURTAIL the spread of COVID-19 we should see an inordinately HIGH RATE OF INFECTION and DEATH among the residents of SKID ROW who most likely don’t practice “social distancing”.

Looking at the DATA as of APRIL 15, 2020, for the region of Los Angeles which encompasses SKID ROW, we see 24 CASES with as best as I can determine no deaths in a POPULATION of 37,131 or 0.065% infection rate of the area’s population.  How does this compare to other communities in Los Angeles.

Hancock Park where Crazy Auntie Maxine Waters lives has 0.309% infection rate of population.  You are 500 % likely to get infected if you live next door to Auntie Maxine than living on SKID ROW.

Melrose where the uber rich live has a 0.293% infection rate.  You’re 450% more likely to get infected living with the wealthy than living on SKID ROW.

Hollywood where the celebrities reside has a 0.190% infection rate. You’re almost 300% more likely to get infected living near a celebrity than living on SKID ROW.

How does this compare to Los Angeles County as a whole?

Los Angeles County has 8,889 confirmed cases with 267 deaths or 0.089% infection rate in the population. You’re 37% more likely to get infected if you DON’T LIVE ON SKID ROW and you are INFINITELY more likely to DIE if you LIVE OUTSIDE OF SKID ROW.

If you believe the “experts” on “social distancing“, the only conclusion is that the RESIDENTS of SKID ROW are much more disciplined at following the “social distancing rules” than the IGNORANT RICH bastards of Melrose, Hancock Park, and Hollywood.

Does “social distancing” work?  Don’t ask me.  I’m a just a deplorable global warming denier who doesn’t believe in science, as I’ve been told.

Meaningless Numbers

With the Chinese Virus pandemic raging around the world, the media reports minute by minute the number of cases and the number of deaths.

These numbers sound alarming but they are meaningless.

I’ve discussed this with a friend of mine and we both observed that the number of cases increases in proportion to the the number of tests for the virus. This is because they are limiting testing to people who present with SYMPTOMS of the virus. What does this mean? People who have SYMPTOMS of the virus will probably test positive for the virus. The good news from the meaningless numbers is that the number of deaths is dropping in percentage to the number of those infected. The mortality rate as of 4pm on 3/25/202 was 1.35%.

Okay so back to the meaningless part of the numbers. If the number of cases tracks with number of tests (which is an OBVIOUS result) cases EXPONENTIALLY GROW because the testing is EXPONENTIALLY INCREASING (once again OBVIOUSLY). The problem is that the news and many politicians are basing their predictions of DISASTER on this rate of increasing cases. If you work with the meaningless numbers in this manner you will end up with PREDICTED numbers that are RIDICULOUSLY TOO HIGH.

Another problem with the media numbers is that we have no idea how many people may or may not be infected who are ASYMPTOMATIC. There may be a huge well of the virus in the general population with ASYMPTOMATIC individuals. At this point we have no idea if this is the case because we are NOT testing ASYMPTOMIC people AT ALL.

WITHOUT the numbers for ASYMPTOMATIC people we have NO IDEA HOW CONTAGIOUS this disease is.  We also don’t know the best measures to take to prevent the SPREAD

WITHOUT all the numbers we have NO IDEA what the MORTALITY RATE is.

Yet another number that is missing is HOW MANY people who test positive REQUIRE HOSPITALIZATION? For the NUMBERS to have any MEANING we need to know how many people have mild or even severe symptoms but do not require hospitalization and recover at home.

With those that REQUIRE HOSPITALIZATION HOW MANY REQUIRE LIFE SUPPORT? I keep hearing about the shortage of VENTILATORS yet no one is showing a case of WHY this is a problem. On top of that IF we actually need the TENS OF THOUSANDS of VENTILATORS we DON’T have enough medical personnel to run all of the machines. I haven’t heard anyone screaming about that fact, only that there aren’t enough machines.

The other term that keeps getting thrown around is “Flattening the curve“. In and of itself that is not a bad idea because of limited medical resources. Interestingly what the term IMPLIES is that the SAME number of people WILL DIE no matter what measures we take. We’re just spreading the DEATHS out over time.

WONDERFUL NEWS.
